Welcome to the official Saint Philomena web site
The Sanctuary Of Saint Philomena, The Heart Of The Devotion!!
We would like to take this opportunity to welcome all of our visitors to the newly redesigned official website in honor of St. Philomena. The Sanctuary of St. Philomena in Mugnano del Cardinale is indeed the International Shrine of St. Philomena. And we are very blessed to house the earthly remains of St. Philomena. Additionally we are the “Spiritual headquarters” of the Universal Archconfraternity of St. Philomena and all of her official shrines worldwide! Visitors herein will discover all of the relevant historical facts and detailed background of the truly heroic life and virtues of our young virgin martyr and Saint. St. Philomena lived in a 3rd Century world dominated by the Empire of Rome. Under Emperor Diocletian it was a time of unbridled materialism, love of power, greed self -indulgence, hedonism and decay. A time that, in essence, is not unlike our own 21st Century wherein self- gratification, decadence, hedonism and moral corruption is now the norm. St. Philomena provides us all, but most especially to the youth of our 21st Century, with a shining and powerful example of how we are to live our lives, focused totally on what is of eternal importance, that being “love of God and the truth” through Christ and his divine mercy.
The Sanctuary of St. Philomena, visited by pilgrims from around the world is truly an oasis of peace and reflection .We are here to support and assist devotees to daily grow closer to Our Lord Jesus Christ through His most special “wonder Worker” St. Philomena.
May God Bless you tremendously and may “His will be done” in all of our lives!
Msgr.Giovanni Braschi
